Dipping Pen

It is an entry-level, straight dip pen, also known as a nib holder, typically used for calligraphy and drawing. The pen itself is a holder for interchangeable metal nibs and does not hold ink internally.

• Interchangeable nibs: Like other dip pens, the SFT008 holder can be fitted with a wide variety of nibs, which are sold separately.
• Uses: It is versatile enough for calligraphers, illustrators, and artists who want to experiment with different line widths, ink types, and techniques by simply swapping nibs.

• Nibs: You can buy a range of nibs with different shapes and flexibility levels for calligraphy or drawing. A good beginner’s option is a nib with a more rounded, less flexible tip.
• Ink: Dip pens are versatile and can be used with a wider variety of inks than fountain pens. Popular choices include waterproof India ink for drawing or dedicated calligraphy inks.
• Paper: To prevent ink bleeding or blotting, it is best to use a high-quality, thick paper over 70GSM is recommended.

1. Insert the nib: Gently insert the nib into the holder with a slight twist until it is fully seated.
2. Dip the pen: Dip the nib into the ink until the ink covers the small reservoir hole, but do not submerge the entire nib.
3. Remove excess ink: Lightly tap the nib against the rim of the ink bottle or give a sharp downward shake over the bottle to prevent blotting.
4. Practice on scrap paper: Before beginning your project, make a few test strokes on scrap paper to use up any initial blobs of ink.
5. Write or draw: Hold the pen at roughly a 45-degree angle. The line width will change based on the pressure applied and the type of nib used.
6. Clean the nib: When you are finished, rinse the nib in water and dry it completely with a soft cloth to prevent rust.
